Fun Baby-Q Ideas

It can be tough to be pregnant in the heat of the summer, but what a great time to have a baby shower! The “Baby-Q” theme practically completes itself: buffalo check table cloths, mason jar centerpieces, and of course, BBQ for food. Continue reading for some fund ideas for invites, decor, guestbooks, and food at your Baby-Q!

Invites

If you’re slightly tech savvy, you can get some great designs digitally and customize them yourself. Plus, there’s always the tried and true invites that you can hand write the details in.

Decor

I say you can’t go wrong with buffalo check EVERYTHING! Some fun lanterns, a nice banner, and a few extras to tie everything together.

A Fun Way for Guests to Leave an Impression 😉

If you know me, I’m sure you know I’m unashamedly biased on this one, but you need a fingerprint poster at your Baby-Q. How many times are you going to experience this in your life?? ONCE! Soak in every second, and create a keepsake with your loved ones. Have guests add their fingerprint and sign their name on one of these designs, frame it and hang it in the nursery. Every time you walk in to see your little one’s smiling (…or screaming) face, you’ll also be greeted with the memories you made that day and the people you shared it with. It’s Time Lapse Time: Pup and Brindle Kitty

This cute pair of critters is waiting to welcome a big brother or sister (of the human variety), so you can bet their world is about to change!

This was part of a custom order that I got to work on. I’m so grateful for customers coming to me with their great ideas!

To draw this pair I used Adobe Fresco on my iPadPro using an Apple Pencil. It’s mostly drawn using live watercolor brushes, along with a few different sketching pencils that I can’t live without 🙂

He or She will have fun things to look at on the nursery walls!

I don’t always have time so squeeze in custom orders, but when I do I enjoy it!

Summer Time Celebrations and the Fingerprint Posters you need to Celebrate them

Aaah, summer time…the sun, the vacations, the fun! And think of all we have to celebrate THIS summer; most of the world is lifting COVID restrictions which means we can see each other in person this summer! We can celebrate birthdays, we can attend weddings, baby showers, and all of those other important events in life—and we get to do it IN PERSON! Woot woot!

While you’re gathering safely to celebrate, soak it in. And create a keepsake while everyone is there. If COVID has taught us anything, it’s that we need to cherish our friends and family now more than ever. I’ve got lots of fun fingerprint posters that work well with any summer theme! It’s Time Lapse Time: This Pup’s Whole World is about to Change!

I’ve been drawing lots of pups lately! This week’s time lapse is a sweet Pit Bull mix who loves to chew on deer antlers and she is ready for the gender reveal party to figure out if she’s getting a little brother or sister.

She’s part of a fingerprint guestbook where guests will add either a pink or blue fingerprint to guess the gender of the baby. Then it can be framed and added to the nursery decor as a keepsake!

This customer actually came to me a few years ago for a custom fingerprint poster for her friend, and now it’s her turn! I love that I get to walk along side my customers and see how their families grow!

I’m sure you can tell, I’m definitely not a professional pet portrait artist, but I’ve got a simple style all my own 😉

It’s Time Lapse Time: Sweet as can BEE

Today’s time lapse is one of my first attempts at a digital drawing project (holy cross-hatching, man!) You’ll find this finished beehive available as a fingerprint poster to celebrate all kinds of events: baby showers, weddings, birthdays, and even as a teacher appreciation gift. It’s all the BUZZ 😉

I used the Procreate app on my iPad Pro with my trusty Apple Pencil to create draw this.

It’s Time Lapse Time: Pomeranian Pup

It’s Time Lapse Time: Watercolor Elephant

Today’s time lapse is the newest elephant to the MeganHStudio collection. After lots of customer requests to add a baby elephant in this style, I was finally able to check it off my to-do list thanks to a customer having an elephant-themed gender reveal party with timing that lined up with my custom order scheudle! Look for this little peanut in fingerprint trees, art prints, and invitations!

I used Adobe Fresco’s live water color brushes for most of this drawing, and of course, on the iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. And guess what? I’m working on more jungle safari animals in the same style! Art print set, here we come!
